Moran says the Texarkana depot is a cornerstone of U.S. military logistics and a model of cost efficiency because it funds itself through the workload it earns, rather than direct appropriations.
Texarkana leaders are in Washington this week backing the push. City Manager David Orr calls the depot crucial to national defense and thousands of local jobs. Chamber of Commerce President Robin Hickerson adds that it supports military readiness while sustaining families across the region.
Moran pledges to safeguard the depot’s role in America’s “peace through strength” strategy as he awaits the Pentagon’s formal response.
